Our Ministry operates through three core components – Rescue, Recovery, and Restoration – focusing on reaching individuals in crisis, treating them with respect and dignity, and guiding them towards healthy, productive lives.
Our Mission
Western Carolina Rescue Ministries (WCRM) exists to serve the homeless, poor, and addicted populations of Western North Carolina. As a nondenominational ministry, we meet people in crisis, focus on helping them at the point of their need, invest in their future, and help them until they can move forward.
We are more than a shelter.
Women’s Substance Abuse Recovery Program- ABBA’s HOuse
Provides a 6-month residential recovery program for mothers and infants, with an optional 6-month transitional stay. Ultimately, Abba’s House will equip mothers with tools for a life free from substance abuse.
Men’s Shelter
Going beyond the traditional overnight shelter, the men’s program fosters personal strength and courage. Through the offered resources and community accountability, men are guided to a productive life with a personalized Joshua plan for long-term stability.

For over 45 years, Western Carolina Rescue Ministries has been providing safe shelter, recovery programs, and meals for those in need. From our overnight shelters to our Men’s Recovery Program and Abba’s House Recovery for women and children, we are committed to helping individuals find hope, healing, and a fresh start. This family-friendly race invites runners and walkers of all ages to come together, stay active, and support a great cause. Join us as we shine a light of hope in our community!
